A barrage of new laws --------------------- The past week has brought the start of a new financial year, and the first of this year's two annual common commencement dates, when the Government brings in new legislation affecting businesses en masse.
A new financial year brings changes to various tax rates and allowances, while the common commencement date sees the introduction of a host of new regulations. New laws introduced include those covering; Health & Safety, the right to request flexible working, the statutory dismissal and grievance procedures and holiday pay.
As if that wasn't enough for small businesses to get to grips with, HMRC have also introduced new tax and VAT penalty regimes. Under the new laws the size of the penalty rises in accordance with the severity of the 'mistake'.

Raft of new employment laws came into force this week --------------------------------------------------------- A raft of new employment laws came into force, on April 6th.
